About Us
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns are expanding our Project CITE(Careers In Technology and Engineering) program to help the current members and the community, who’s in need of a computer in their home for educational purposes. We are receiving computer donations from more and more companies every month for this program we have started. With a combination of the Microsoft refurbish program, caring adult staff and cutting-edge programs, the Boys & Girls Club of the Northtowns can make a real difference in the future success of its members and the community.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns will try to provide members, their families, and the community of low and medium income status a computer.
----------
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns started a project to help students who are interested in the technology and engineering fields and to help our community.
Phase 1
We started repair classes for middle and high schoolers. This program will help students who may be interested in the technical and engineer fields of technology. They will learn the inter-workings of a computer and their parts. Students will take computers apart and put them together. They will also learn the beginning steps to troubleshooting a problem for a computer as in life. As they go through the program, we will bring in speakers from places like UB, Buffalo State, and other companies in the technology and engineering fields. We will also take field trips to some of these companies. This will stimulate students interest in the various fields.
Phase 2
We are developing a donation program. We are receiving computer donations from more and more companies every month for this program we have started. We will refurbish them and with the Microsoft refurbish program, we will donate the computers out to the community for a donation of around $50-$75. With a combination of the Microsoft refurbish program, caring adult staff and cutting-edge programs, the Boys & Girls Club of the Northtowns can make a real difference in the future success of its members and the community.
Phase 3
We are developing a computer repair program. The community will bring their computers in for repair. We will fix them for a labor donation between $25-$50. Savior Computing will handle parts as needed.
