What is a matching gift?

Matching gifts are contributions made by an employer to match an employee's contribution.  Most companies match employee gifts at a ratio of 1:1, however, some companies may actually double, or triple, their employee's gifts.

How do I know if my, or my spouse's, employer matches gifts?

There are many companies out there that participate in matching gifts programs to encourage employees to get involved with their community.  Participating companies provide a form, usually found in the personnel office.  This a win-win-win situation - Please take a moment to check with your employer, or your spouse's employer, to see if they have such a program.

How does it work?

Get the form from your employer and send it into the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northtowns' administrative office with their gift.  The administration office verifies the contribution and returns the form to the employee's matching gift company.  All matched gifts are credited to your individual gift record as well as the company's.  Meaning, if you contribute $500, and your employer matches the gift with an additional $500, you will be recognized in our Hero Club with a overall contribution of $1,000.
